The Léost Endowment Fund was created in December 2004, in memory of Chantelle Léost.

Chantelle was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Her talents were varied and impressive, including athletics and art, but none were bigger than her compassion for other people, especially those in need.

The fund supports the Alberta Cancer Foundation's “Patient Financial Assistance Program”, which provides short-term relief by covering some of the basic costs of living while patients are being treated for cancer.

This temporary financial assistance will be provided to patients with a demonstrated financial need who are undergoing the diagnosis, treatment and/or symptom management of cancer.

The Léost Endowment Fund is proud to announce $23,850 was raised at the 7th annual “Martinis & Masterpieces" held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at DaDe Art & Design Lab in Inglewood!

Danielle hopes to successfully portray The Café Royal’s charm; the impression it has left on her, and the dent she left on it as well.  Her intentions are to embellish on Café Royal’s aesthetic by covering ten 48” x 60” canvasses with eye-pleasing and expressive color using oil paint and metallic powder which lend to the mood of each piece.   She elaborated on the visuals by bombarding the canvas with bold imagery referencing more specific venue detail work … and lastly, she superimposed tourist symbols on the paintings to reference ‘herself’ within modern day imagery easily identifiable to cultural / historical seekers.   Within these squares, each non-conventional symbol represents a commentary on culture and tradition based on what she had witnessed at The Café Royal.   Visually, she intend to make the tourist signage clash in comparison to the rest of the painting, however letting the sistering bold , gestural shapes act as a visual tie-in to her transformation as a naïve tourist into a belonging citizen.   She has always used tools such as journal entries and autobiographical multi-monitor pieces as main contributors to her work and carrying the theme of story-telling within these symbols.
