A theme in my artwork is the idea of destructive beauty by redefining an image through unpredictable painting processes. We are constantly changing our situation and remaking ourselves through life experiences. The idea of personal metamorphosis through reflection and past experiences is a complicated and beautiful part of life that I strive to capture with my work.

Each of my pieces starts with a painting of a memory or image that holds significant personal meaning. From there I build layers of images onto the base painting until there is a physical weight to compliment the mental weight of the piece. The chandelier is a symbol I use throughout my work. The chandelier represents wealth and power with an aesthetic value. At the surface, wealth is represented by life style and possessions. At a deeper level, wealth can represent a personal connection, an abundance of memories and experiences. As we layer experiences, that wealth reshapes who we are.

Materials used on each painting range from oil paints, to wax mixed with various chemicals, pigments, etc, and are applied in such a way to mirror the wealth of individual experiences. Each medium is carefully chosen to react with other layers, combining to alter and remake the original painting. Through the artistic process, the painting takes on a life of its own, re-creating itself into a completely unpredictable and beautiful artwork. In the end, the initial painted image becomes a distant memory.
