Native to Calgary, Alberta, Brad Turner received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art + Design, and recently completed a four year Artist Residency at the Harbourfront Centre in downtown Toronto. He creates a mix of sculptural and functional glass objects with a focus on conceptual originality, diversity, and clean design. Maintaining an honest use of material, Turner's glasswork seeks to elevate the medium's unique characteristics, whether it's the rare combination of strength and fragility, the unmistakable relationship with light and optics, or it's stories roots in vessel-making and functional design.
In addition to his artistic training, Turner holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, having earlier pursued an interest in physical activity and awareness. This continues to inform his work, often incorporating movement, balance and personal interaction.
