ELLINOR STENROOS
Boldness through simplicity; daring statements in modest settings.
Ellinor works in Scandinavian design, creating objects of art and functional pieces with clean lines, charisma and statement. One-off objects of art and limitted-edition silverware. Ellinor was raised in Swedish-speaking Finland, where the simplicity in the landscape and surroundings fuelled her creativity at a very early age. Her desire to become a designer and craftsman led her to a university education in Kent, England. Ellinor was an eager student and was taught the trade of jewellery design, goldsmithing and silversmithing, with an unexpected passion for the latter.
Realizing a love for creating metal pieces that appeared impossible to form seamlessly, and working a scale where one could embrace the object with more than just detailed observation. After three years in the United Kingdom, employment opportunities brought her to Canada as a jewellery designer and goldsmith creating custom European-influenced jewellery in Calgary.
During 4 years of creating predominately bridal jewellery she filled sketchbooks with silversmithing ideas and projects, and witnessed a lack of the forms' presence in Calgary. In 2009 Ellinor started working on translating her sketches into tangible pieces to be able to introduce EVStenroos to North America in 2010.
